Ford Fuels Leads the Charge with Major HVO Investment
Ford Fuels supply fuel and lubricants across a wide range of industries, including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, industrial, marine, and transportation for over 50 years. Our vision for a more sustainable future is matched by real, tangible action. As a leader in renewable energy solutions, we are proud to be investing heavily in the development and supply of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a renewable diesel alternative that is a cleaner, sustainable, solution to fossil fuels.
HVO Renewable Diesel significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 up-to 90% and NOX up-to 30%) and harmful pollutants, and by choosing it, our customers are making a powerful commitment to environmental responsibility and the well-being of future generations. Importantly, our HVO is VIRGIN PALM OIL & WASTE PALM OIL (POME) FREE, helping to reduce the environmental concerns associated with deforestation and habitat destruction. Its production process, known as hydrotreating, involves subjecting the feedstock to high pressure and temperature.
Over the past few years, we have been expanding our national HVO storage and distribution facilities, as well as beginning the process of switching our fleet to its use, and as a part of the renewable fuel assurance scheme we meet British Standard (BS) EN 15940 specifications.
We are excited to announce a recent major investment in our Membury Depot, where we have just completed the installation of dedicated HVO infrastructure. This significant development greatly enhances our ability to supply HVO efficiently and reliably to the surrounding regions (e.g. Berkshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire). The new facilities will ensure our customers in the local area have consistent access to this vital sustainable fuel.
This expansion at Membury is part of our wider strategic growth plan for HVO across the business. In addition to the Membury investment, we have recently commissioned new storage tanks at many of our other depots, and we are always actively reviewing opportunities for further investment throughout our network.
We are also pleased to share the appointment of George Brinkworth as HVO Product Development Manager. George has been instrumental in our renewable fuels progress to date and will now lead the next phase of our HVO journey.
As demand for low-carbon energy grows, Ford Fuels is proud to be setting the pace. Through major infrastructure investment, dedicated personnel, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability, we’re building a cleaner, more efficient fuel future, starting right here, in our local communities.
