Red Diesel Tax Changes 2022

On the 1st April 2022 the government are making significant changes that will limit the use of Red Diesel and other Rebated Fuels in the UK. In 2019 the United Kingdom passed new laws to help fight the global problem of climate change, with the goal of reaching net zero emission. To do this Red Diesel usage will be limited, as it produces 14 million tonnes of CO₂ per year…but don’t worry, Ford Fuels are here to help you through this transition, and we have alternatives available to you.

WHATS CHANGING?
The use of rebated fuel (Red Diesel etc) will be limited to certain vehicles, vessels, machines and appliances when used for specific purposes. Fuels affected:
Rebated (Red) Diesel | Rebated HVO | Rebated Biodiesel | Bioblend | Fuel Substitutes

WHATS THE SOLUTION?
Those effected will have to switch from Red Diesel (etc) to White Diesel. If a customer wishes to switch to HVO, be aware HVO also comes in a white and red version so they would have to switch to the white version of that aswell.

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY STORED FUEL?
Those no longer allowed to use rebated fuel will be required to only use fuel on which the full rate of fuel duty has been paid. Therefore you should plan ahead to have no stored fuel remaining by the 31st March 2022 (unless that fuel is already in the vehicle/machineries system).
If you still have fuel in storage after this date, you can:
• Sell or give it to any Registered Dealer in Controlled Oil (RDCO).
• Dispose of it via an approved waste oil recycling or disposal company.
