Premium Gas Oil

Premium Gas OilWhy Upgrade...

Due to changes in the government’s environmental standards, the RTFO (Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation) sets new biofuel targets each year. These targets have resulted in the increased use of FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) in fuel. FAME is an environmentally sustainable substance, often derived from sources like used cooking oil, and is added as a replacement for the sulphur that is typically found in diesel. This means that when using standard gas oil, some customers might encounter issues, such as the accumulation of sludge or particulates in their equipment or storage tanks.

Premium Gas Oil comes treated with additives that will help combat the cause of these problems before they become an issue.

Premium Gas OilBenefits

Premium Gas Oil has additives which help it to have:

  • Improved Fuel Performance: Higher cetane number reduces ignition delay in diesel engines, enhancing efficiency and lowering emissions.
  • Longer Storage Life: Contains a deposit control additive to minimise sludge and residue formation.
  • Reduced Carbon Emissions: Produces fewer carbon emissions compared to standard Gas Oil.
  • Increased Fuel Lubricity: Compensates for sulphur reduction, reducing friction within the engine and protecting fuel pumps and injectors.
  • Enhanced Resistance to Fuel Bugs: Significant reduction in fuel bug presence since the introduction of biodiesel.
  • Reduced Sludge Build-up: Minimises deposit formation, preventing injector sticking and over-fuelling while maintaining injector spray patterns and preventing nozzle coking in older engines.
  • Decreased Fuel Consumption & Emissions: Promotes efficiency and reduces emissions.
  • Corrosion Protection: Disperses hard and soft particles, including biodiesel precipitates.
  • Increased Water Resistance: Mitigates the risk of water emulsifying with fuel, which can lead to filter blockages. This is crucial as all fuel now contains up to 7% biodiesel.
